security, message management, application management, data collection,
application display and inter-application communications.
|
| |
| |
Development of VIVIDESK™
The VIVIDESK™ technology is developed using
Microsoft tools such as Visual C++, Visual Basic and ASP.NET. VIVIDESK™
platform is based and driven on the .NET environment and Internet component
design methods. |
| |
| |
Minimum Hardware Requirements
Essentially, if a computer can run Internet Explorer™ 4.0, then it will be able
to run VIVIDESK™. This usually translates into the
following minimum hardware requirements:
-
500 MHz central processor, or better.
-
256MB memory.
-
Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows VISTA, or Windows
NT (version 3.51 and higher).
-
5 MB of hard drive space.
-
Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher (it is recommended that Internet Explorer 5.0+
be installed with 128 bit encryption compatibility).
-
An Internet connection (48 kilo baud or faster modem; fast Internet connection
using DSL, Cable or better recommended).
|
| |
Operating System Requirements
VIVIDESK™ is available for all Windows applications except Win 3.1 and Windows
NT 3.5. VIVIDESK thin-client should be installed on Windows 95/ 98/2000/Me/XP/
NT 4.0 computers. VIVIDESK is also available in a format optimized for remote
desktop servers such as MS Terminal Server and Citrix Servers, allowing it to
be delivered to Macintosh and other client computers using the Remote Desktop
Protocol.
|
| |
| |
SSL or other encryption support
VIVIDESK™
can be configured to use SSL with 128-bit
security and digital certificates. |
| |
| |
Role-based Profiles
VIVIDESK™ functionality revolves around the user
and user groups. Users are assigned to user groups, and applications are also
assigned to user groups. Anyone registered in a user group will be able to see
and use all the applications assigned to that group. Each member of a group has
the same privileges as all other members of that group. If a user is not
registered with a specific group, their profile and applications they can view
will be different. For example: the key differentiator between a doctor and an
administrative person is who sees billing and financial data and who is able to
view the electronic medical record.

VIVIDESK™ supports client session timeouts
based on roles or applications
VIVIDESK™ can automatically log off and
systematically close all open software applications (launched through VIVIDESK™.
The time-out period can be set to any number of minutes or it can be disabled
and this can be set differently for different workstations and environments. A
session starts with a validated user logon and ends when a user signs off, is
timed out, or if the VIVIDESK™ desktop fails to
check in with the VIVIDESK™ server.
|
| |
| |
Usage data tracking
VIVIDESK™ always captures basic information about
VIVIDESK™ sessions. A session starts with a
validated user logon and ends when a user signs off, is timed out, or if the VIVIDESK™
desktop fails to check in with the VIVIDESK™ server.
Automatic session data includes the desktop requested, user unique identifier,
security key, user computer address, logon time, and whether the session ended
normally or possibly had a problem. VIVIDESK™ can
record information about who logs on, when, where and for how long. It also can
capture much more detailed information about how the VIVIDESK™
desktop and its software applications are used..
|
| |
| |
Global messages can be sent out
Yes. This is one of VIVIDESK™'s
greatest strengths. VIVIDESK™ has two embedded
messaging systems and it can implement third party messaging systems. VIVIDESK™
can also associate pop-up messages and summaries with software applications.
|
| |
| |
Messages can be sent to other users on the network
VIVIDESK™ has been designed to provide users with
an internal mail application that can be used for communication between
individual users as well as between groups of users. This messaging feature is
not connected to the Internet and so maintains a level of security across the
network.
